Our 2025-2027 Federal Policy Priorities present evidence-based legislative and regulatory recommendations to address social isolation and strengthen social connection as a public health priority. Through cross-sector collaboration, we aim to create a society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive through connection.

Grounded in Evidence-Based Policy

This policy agenda is based on the Evidence-Based Policy Framework for Social Connection, developed in collaboration with the Foundation for Social Connection’s Research and Practice team. This framework links research on the harms of social isolation with policies that enhance public health, economic prosperity, and community well-being.

Built on rigorous scientific research, including Dr. Julianne Holt-Lunstad’s SOCIAL Framework, and refined by the Foundation for Socioal Connection Scientific Leadership Council, the framework identifies key areas for action:

  • Health
  • Education
  • Work & Employment
  • Built Environment
  • Arts & Culture
  • Food & Nutrition
  • Research & Measurement

It calls for raising public awareness, integrating social connection into healthcare, leveraging innovation in technology and infrastructure, and expanding research to better understand and address social disconnection.

Why Social Connection Matters

Social connection is vital to mental and physical health, reducing the risks of chronic disease, cognitive decline, and premature mortality. Addressing these challenges is key to building stronger, more resilient communities.

A Call to Action

While the challenges are complex, solutions exist. Our policy framework serves as a roadmap for decision-makers, advocates, and community leaders to prioritize social connection in policies and programs.

By taking action, we can create a more inclusive, healthier, and connected society. Explore our policy priorities and join us in driving meaningful change.
