Signature Event
Global Loneliness Awareness Week
Each June, alongside our partners at the Global Initiative on Loneliness and Connection (GILC) and Marmalade Trust, the Coalition activates local communities, policymakers, and innovators to share resources, identify areas of collaboration, and educate the public on the importance of belonging and resiliency. Together, we mobilize relationships across the globe to elevate awareness of the crisis worldwide.
This year’s event was held on June 11th at Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg Center at 555 Pennsylvania Avenue NW!
Past Events
In 2023, the Coalition hosted Advocating for Connection: Connections at the Capitol on June 13th in the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center in Washington, D.C. During this event, we heard from Senators Chris Murphy (D-CT) and Tina Smith (D-MN) and other advocates and thought leaders about current efforts to foster belonging and resiliency among our most vulnerable populations.
Our 2022 Conversations on Belonging, Connection, & Well-Being event featured a conversation with NBC Today correspondent, Jenna Bush Hager, and U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy. Audience members also heard from premier thought leaders and changemakers about the value of social connection and how to ensure all people feel a sense of belonging.
Action Forum
In past years, the Coalition has partnered with the Foundation for Social Connection to co-host their annual Action Forum to end social isolation and loneliness and promote social connection. Agendas and session recordings from all past forums are available on the Foundation’s website.
Commit to Action
A Commitment to Action is a pledge targeting any of the significant challenges faced by communities, organizations, and/or policymakers when addressing the impact of social isolation and loneliness. Each year, we aim to engage more stakeholders and inspire more action. Do you have a Commitment to Action? Let us know!
