The SENIOR Act takes critical steps to address the growing public health concern of loneliness and social isolation among older adults.

If passed, the bill will:

Recognize Loneliness as a Health Concern – The bill adds “loneliness” to the Older Americans Act (OAA) definition of disease prevention and health promotion services, allowing states to use federal funding to combat social isolation.

Require a Federal Report on Loneliness – Directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) to study the impact of loneliness on older adults and develop recommendations to mitigate its effects.

Analyze Multigenerational Family Support – Examines the relationship between family dynamics, loneliness, and senior health outcomes to inform future policy solutions.

Andrew MacPherson, Founder & Board Chair emphasized the bill’s significance:

The Foundation for Social Connection Action Network supports legislative efforts that prioritize connection and healthy aging. We encourage policymakers, advocates, and community leaders to support the SENIOR Act and work toward a future where no older adult has to experience loneliness.
