Prince Taylor
Prince began his VA career as a volunteer in Nashville, Tennessee. After serving as an HR specialist and HR manager at VA Central Office, he now serves as the Acting National Director for the VA Center for Development & Civic Engagement which is the largest integrated volunteer program in the Federal government. They partner with more than 7,400 national and community organizations. He supports the management of approximately 46,000 volunteers serving over 4.4 million hours and donations totaling more than $108 million dollars annually. He also manages the VAVS/CDCE Technical Career Field trainee program, serving as a mentor and coach.
He is a Senior Fellow of the Partnership for Public Service’s Excellence in Government program, where he also served as a co-coach twice. He has been a keynote speaker for American Legion Auxiliary’s Girls Nation and he started VA’s official TEDx program in 2018.
In response to COVID-19, he used the foundation of a volunteer in-home visitor program established for caregiver respite to design, implement, and promote a new program, Compassionate Contact Corps, which has been designated a Signature Program by American Red Cross and featured in the New York Times’ series The Future of Health Care. Ten of his national coordinators received Secretary Honor Awards and one received The Beryl Institute’s International Volunteer Professional Award of Excellence for her work under his leadership. The program was a 2021 winner for the Veteran Health Administration’s Shark Tank, has been briefed at the 2022 Social Work Leadership Conference, on national VA Chiefs of Staff Call, and to the Secretary of Veterans Affairs. Earlier this year, Prince served as the Department’s subject matter expert on loneliness for a national satellite media tour which reached more than 7 million viewers. He has also written several articles and blogs on the effects of loneliness.
Prince served 12 years in the U.S. Navy. He received his M.Ed. in Workforce Education and Bachelors in Paralegal Studies and Political Science from Southern Illinois University – Carbondale. Prince is currently a doctoral candidate with Peabody College at Vanderbilt University in Leadership and Learning in Organizations with an expected graduation date of August 2023.
